Title: The Practitioner Staff Appeals Amendment Regulations, 2018

Summary: On filing date, but retroactive on and from December 4, 2017, these regulations will amend RRS c R-8.2 Reg 5 to:

  • Amend section 7 to allow practitioner staff of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) to be selected for a panel to hear an appeal of a decision made by the SHA;
  • Add a new subsection 11(3) to provide the Practitioner Staff Appeals Tribunal (PSAT) the powers conferred on a commission by sections 11, 15 and 25 of The Public Inquiries Act, 2013. This includes the power to compel evidence, contempt of commission, and the power to engage services of staff;
  • Amend section 15 to clarify that decisions of the PSAT may be appealed to a judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench within 30 days after the date of the PSAT’s decision; and
  • Ensure the amendments are retroactive to December 4, 2017; the date on which The PHA Act came into force.
