Title: The Wildlife Amendment Regulations, 2018

Summary: On April 30, 2018, these regulations will amend RRS W-13.1 Reg 1 to:

  • revise the big game draw by creating two more priority pools which will address the big game draw backlog;
  • allow hunters to decline a big game draw licence in cases where one applicant is successful for three or more species;
  • freeze all applicants' pool status in cases where a big game draw for a particular species is not conducted;
  • reduce landowner concerns by requiring permission when setting out trail cameras or hunting blinds;
  • allow limited use of hunting blinds on Wildlife Lands;
  • increase restrictions and penalties for abuses of bait set out for hunting;
  • clarify restrictions regarding hunting-related vehicle use in areas with restricted vehicle access;
  • reduce permit requirements and simplify the process for clients to transport, import and export lawfully-taken wildlife;
  • eliminate export and transportation requirements for fur farm animals;
  • clarify that all licence fees are inclusive of the federal goods and services tax;
  • further enable beekeepers to protect their property from wildlife damage; and
  • implement a number of miscellaneous revisions, clarifications and updates.
