OC 602/2015 - The Animal Protection (Investigative Training Course) Amendment Regulations, 2015 (Minister of Agriculture)

Title: The Animal Protection (Investigative Training Course) Amendment Regulations, 2015

Minister: Minister of Agriculture

Summary: On filing date, these regulations will amend RRS A-21.1 Reg 1 to amend The Animal Protection Regulations, 2000. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) investigative training course referenced in The Animal Protection Regulations, 2000, is no longer offered to agencies outside the RCMP and therefore an investigative training course for Animal Protection Officers (APO) is being developed for approval by the Minister.

The Animal Protection Regulations, 2000 require APO to have successfully completed an investigative training course conducted by the RCMP within 12 months of the APO appointment. The 12-month time frame does not provide enough time if the annual course is delayed.

See: The Animal Protection Act, 1999, section 18
