Title: The Saskatchewan Insurance Amendment Regulations, 2014

Minister: Minister of Justice and Attorney General

Summary: (1) Subject to subsection (2), these regulations come into force on April 1, 2014;

(2) If these regulations are published in the Gazette after April 1, 2014, these regulations come into force on the day on which they are published in the Gazette.

These regulations will amend RRS S-26 Reg 8 to increase a number of fees collected by the Insurance and Real Estate Division of the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA) as follows:

  • Increase the 5 year license fee for mutual, fraternal, co-operative and discontinuing insurers from $500 to $1,500;
  • Increase the 5 year license fee for reciprocal insurance sales, underwriter’s agencies and reinsurers from $1,500 to $3,000;
  • Increase the basic 5 year license fee for insurance companies from $2,000 to $3,000;
  • Increase the fee for each additional class of insurance sold by an insurer from $2,000 to a maximum of $8,000, to $3,000 to a maximum of $9,000; and
  • Increase the fee for filing annual statements from $100 to $200.
