Title: The Wildlife Amendment Regulations, 2013

Minister: Minister of Environment

Summary: (1) Subject to subsection (2), these regulations come into force on the day on which they are filed with the Registrar of Regulations.

(2) Subsection 8(2) comes into force on July 1, 2014.

These regulations will amend RRS W-13.1 Reg 1 to:

  • enable the introduction of an automated hunting and angling licencing system;
  • establish a Canadian resident white-tailed deer draw;
  • remove the requirement for two existing wildlife permits;
  • increase opportunities for outfitters to market white-tailed deer hunts which support government’s Growth Agenda;
  • establish an alternative approach to verifying residency without using the Health Services Number to purchase a hunting licence;
  • strengthen environmental protection regarding the use of salt for hunting bait; and
  • ensure that trappers are using tools that allow for the humane capture of furbearers.
